Col. Patrick J. Kelly
Chief, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Directorate
Colonel Patrick J. Kelly enlisted in the Army as a Materiel Maintenance Specialist in 1976 and was commissioned in the Field Artillery in 1983. He assumed the duties as Chief, EOD Directorate, Sustainment Center of Excellence at Ft Lee on 1 Sep 2010. His previous assignment was Commander, 71st Ordnance Group (EOD) from 2008 to 2010.
Previous commands include Combined Joint Task Force Troy, the 79th Ordnance Battalion (EOD), the 8th Ordnance Control Detachment (EOD) and the 137th Ordnance Company (EOD). Other assignments include the J-4 Wartime Host Nation Support Officer, US Forces Korea Staff; Deputy Commander, 52d Ordnance Group (EOD); Chief, Theater Munitions Branch (ARCENT); CJTF-Kuwait C-4; Chief, EOD Branch, US Forces Command; Brigade S4, 1st Signal Brigade; Maintenance Officer, 1st Signal Brigade; Operations Officer, 546th Ordnance Battalion (EOD); Battalion Fire Support Officer, 3/19th Infantry; Executive Officer, Bravo Battery, 2/35th Field Artillery; and Battalion Reconnaissance Officer, 2/35th Field Artillery.
Colonel Kelly is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, the Ordnance Advanced Course, the Naval School of Explosive Ordnance Disposal at Indianhead, MD, the Air Command and Staff College, and holds a Master of Strategic Studies from the Air War College and a Masters of Human Resources Management from Troy State University.
Among his awards and decorations are the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (2 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), the Army Good Conduct Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal Badge and Parachutist Badge.
